The Evangelical and Reformed Church thought it necessary to form a group of Church. So the United Church of Christ was formed under their guidance in the year 1957. The committee of Evangelical and Reformed Church was founded on 1934. It was a result of the coming together of Evangelical Synod of North America and Reformed Church in the United States. They followed the rules of the German church.

The roots of the Evangelical Synod of North America were also rooted to the German immigration. The Evangelical Church of the Union was formed in 1817 and they were known as Lutheran. They did not like to mix with people belonging to the different group of church of Christ.

The roots of the Congregational Church of Christ can be traced in various ways. They had a building in New Hampshire. Their working structure was totally different from the Presbyterians. The churches were controlled from New England. Later on the people residing in New England migrated to various places and wherever the people went the church also spread its wings along with them. Many churches could now be found near the Great Lakes region in mid-western part of America.

The origin of the Congregational Church of Christ was found in two groups belonging to the Protestant sect. They originally belonged to England but were now settled in Boston. When the United Church of Christ (UCC) was formed a large part of Congregational churches were not at all willing to join the group. They either joined the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference or the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches.

UCC often used to describe themselves as to be a true Christians who believe in reformation and followed the evangelical doctrine. The Church of Christ had by now diversified itself into various activities. They gave people enough freedom to practice the religion. If we have a look at the administration we will see that churches had total control in the working of their organization. They had full freedom in appointing clerks. If they were not happy with the working of their officials they could throw them out without any fear.

They had total control over the political issues also. The United Church of Christ believed Jesus as their total head. He is considered their Savior. It has full faith in the power of Jesus and the Bible. It believes in the presence of Holy Spirit.United Church of Christ
