Physical Education Fitness Training In Schools For Children


Physical education or physical training is directed towards increasing the level of fitness.The actual goal is to increase students physical activity levels. To ensure this physical fitness the Schools have been thrusted with a responsibility to find newer and newer ways to support thirty minutes of physical activity, daily on a routine. This is applicable to students of all grades; from grade one to grade nine. Healthy students are in a better position to learn. Moreover, supportive environments help the students to develop positive habits, in order to lead a active and healthy lifestyle.

Most contemporary school systems maintain their aim is to provide students with the, skills, knowledge, values along with the eagerness to continue a healthy lifestyle. Some schools also direct physical education programs as a means to encourage weight loss among the students. Activities that are included within the program are devised to promote physical fitness and to develop motor skills, to inculcate knowledge and also understanding of the rules, strategies and concepts to teach students the art of working within a team and also to develop a competitive mind set at the same time.

Most of the schools require the students to change into a different set of clothes. Some schools dictate students to change into athletic clothes while others stress on a uniform. Generally a physical education uniform consists of shorts and white t-shirt. For the part of safety, some schools make the male students to wear a jock strap as a part of the physical education program. Most classes make the student to label their name on their clothes.

It should be mentioned here that some activities in physical education would require a special uniform. For instance, some schools, which include swimming as part of their syllabus, make the students wear a bathing suit. This could be either in the school color or it may be black with a same color-swimming cap. In games where two or more teams are involved students generally have to wear colored jerseys or garments over their usual uniform as a means of identification.

In United States, the physical education program is designed to expose pupils to the following categories of sporting activity. This includes gymnastics, aquatics, conditioning activities, team sports, individual and dual sports, dance and rhythms. Martial arts classes, like the wrestling in U.S. and the Pencak Silat in France, are given to train students the art of self-defense. This generates confidence among the students. So, to produce good and healthy citizens, physical education in schools is a must. Physical education
