
Margaret Thornton is an author and a qualified teacher by profession. She was born in the city of Blackpool and had spent her life in the same city. She retired from her profession to engross in bringing out herself as an author. She is the proud author of books like Down an English Lane (part 1 & 2), True Love of Mine, Above The Bright Blue Sky (part 1 & 2).
Margaret Thornton started her writing profession by writing articles and short stories for different magazines. Her family sagas range from the late Victorian period, through to the Twenties, to the Second World War and the Fifties and Sixties. She is a magnificent author of the book titled, Above the Bright Blue Sky which was regarded as a brilliant read by the Womens Realm.
Margaret Thornton also wrote a 2nd series for the same book. The book was about the life of a Massie Jackson, who suffered from severe torture from her stepbrother and also cruelty from her stepfather. Massie is in search to untie her ropes and free herself to achieve her dreams. It was 1939 and the smell of war was all around. But for nine year old Massie, it is her only chance of freedom, may be she will be sent to the countryside, to one of the places her father used to tell her about?
Down An English Lane was again a bestseller written by Margaret Thornton, the backdrop of the story is set in the year 1945, during the outburst of the Second World War. Massie a 15 year old is sent to the small market town of Middle beck, northern Yorkshire Dales. Massie works as a correspondent to the squire sons, Bruce Tremaine, who has been fighting with the RAF in Europe. Massie thinks that Bruce loves her and she also falls for him, but nevertheless she is once again left lonely when Bruce returns on the VE Day with Christine. Her life is turned upside down.
Margaret Thornton has also come up with a very subtle book titled, True Love of Mine which is about a small ten year old girl Maddy, who meets a new companion on the sands of North Bay, Scarborough. As Maddys Friendship grows with Jessie, she is happy showing her around, relieved that the family business , Isaac Moon & Son, undertakers, has not put Jessie off. The two girls are glad knowing the truth and so is the feelings of their families, but there are troubles that wait to meet her as secrets buried long before she was born.
