Marguerite de Angeli is an author born on March 14, 1889 in Lapeer. She had five siblings. Her father was a photographer; his name was George Shadrach Lofft. The most influential years of her life was spent in West Philadelphia. In 1904 she joined a secondary school but her growing interest in singing made her leave school. She had started singing by singing for a Presbyterian choir and later went on for further training in music.
