
Robert P Ryan also known as Bob Ryan was born on 21st February, 1946 in Trenton, New Jersey. He had been working as a columnist representing Boston Globe for a long span of time. He has also been involved with the hosting of a talk show on sports that was broadcasted on the New England Sports Network.
Bob Ryan is commonly called as the basketball guru and has gained a lot of publicity for his contribution towards the coverage of the sport, which is comprised of popular stories relating to the Boston Celtics in the year 1970. He did his graduation from the Boston college and went ahead with his sport internship for Globe sharing the day with Peter Gammons. He did his major in history from the Boston College in 1968 and joined the high school namely The Lawrenceville School in 1960 and stayed there till 1964.
Bob Ryan entered into a marital relationship with Elaine in 1969 and they together had a daughter namely Jessica as well as a son Keith, who unfortunately faced death in the year 2008 in Islamabad, Pakistan. In recent times he is reported to be residing in Hingham, Massachusetts. In the year 1982, he gave his position in Globe Celtics beat to the not very famous Dan Shaughnessy and afterwards to Jackie MacMullan for the purpose of joining WCVB.
In his sports broadcasting career he managed to land up with the coverage of 20 Final Fours, 20 NBA Finals, five Super Bowls, the last 7 olympics and many more. Bob Ryan has shifted his focus to general sports from basketball. He has also contributed his literary efforts to the Basketball Times and was voted for the Baseball Hall of Fame. His achievements included Dick Schaap Award for Outstanding Journalism in 2006. He succesfully got the Curt Gowdy Award in the year 1997 from the Basketball Hall of Fame and in 2000 was selected as the AP National Sportswriter of the Year.
Bob Ryan did also held membership to the College Basketball Writers as well as New England Basketball Halls of Fame. On each Thursday morning at 7:50 a.m he was found on The Bob Ryan Report on Loren and Wally talking about his views on Boston Sports. He also forms part of the show of Michael Felger and that of Dennis and Callahan on WEEI. He is seen quite a number of times as a guest host on Pardon the Interruption belonging to ESPN and also appears as guest on The Sports Reporters.
