Mary Stewart was born on 17th September in the year of 1916 in Sunderland in the Durham County in United Kingdom. She was a student of the Durham University. The author used to be a professor of English Language and literature. When she got married to Sir Frederick Stewart, former chairman of Geology Department of Edinburgh University, she put a full stop in her career as a professor to carry on a happy family life. She became a teacher in the school of John Norquay elementary for 30 to 35 years later in her life.
The Merlin Series for which Mary Stewart has remained the most popular, started its journey with The Crystal Cave in 1970. In 1973 there came The Hollow Hills. The Last Enchantment was published in 1979 while The Wicked Day in 1983. The last part of the series was published in 1995, which was named as The Prince and the Pilgrim.
