Bible Code Encrypted Information Old Testament Torah

The Bible Code refers to a set of encrypted information which is thought to exist in the text of the Bible, especially the Old Testament. These codes are also known as the Torah codes as they are primarily found in the first five books of the Old Testament which also constitute the Hebrew Torah. According to believers the Bible codes contain all the information about the Universe just as a DNA sequence includes every kind of information about the particular organism.

Over the centuries, the Bible Code has been studied and investigated by various Biblical scholars as well as experts on the Kabbalah. The latter refers to the mystical practices and esoteric messages of the Jewish Bible, especially in the Torah. Since the mid seventeenth century many mathematicians like Blaise Pascal have also attempted to study the Bible as a cipher containing hidden information.

In the modern times the study of Bible Code reached a new phase with the publication of a scientific paper by Witztum, Rips and Rosenberg in 1994. This paper put forward the view that hidden messages could be extracted from the Biblical text of Genesis by the method of Equidistant Letter Sequence. However this phenomenon applied primarily to the Hebrew Bible text and since the proponents were Jewish they chose to concentrate specifically on the Torah.

Ever since the publication of Witztum, Rips and Rosenberg papers, there have been two major lines of thought relating to the meaning of the Bible Code. The traditional school of thought holds that the Bible should be studied in the exact, letter-by-letter sequence that it was given to mankind and to decipher its meaning should be only studied within the Biblical context. This view also holds that the codes cannot be used to predict the future.

A later and more controversial view holds that the Bible codes can be used to predict certain events and phenomena of the future. This notion was put forward in the best selling book by journalist Michael Drosnin titled The Bible Code. The book which released in 1997 suggests that the codes contained in the Bible lend themselves to computer analysis by which future events can be predicted.

In 2002 Michael Drosnin published the second part of the book titled The Bible Code II which put forward the sensational view that the Bible codes were written by some extra terrestrial life who also put the human DNA containing its genetic code on Earth.
