Birth Of Jesus Prophesied By Angel Gabriel On Christmas Day

Birth of Jesus is better known and celebrated as Christmas. Jesus is the child of Mother Mary who was the wife of Joseph. Jesus was conceived to Mother Mary not by Joseph but by a divine spirit. Some angels proclaimed to some shepherd about the birth of Christ and the same was done by the appearance of a new star on the sky.

According to the Gospel of Luke Mother Mary came to know from Gabriel, an angel of god, that she would be giving birth to a bay. Mother Mary was obviously surprised as she was a virgin. The angel convinced her that such was God's plan and nothing was impossible for him. Just before Birth of Jesus finding no other place to rest Mary and Joseph had to take shelter in an inn in Bethlehem sharing their space with animals. Mother Mary soon gave birth to Jesus.

After Birth of Jesus, the angels of god informed the nearby shepherd about the good news of a savior being born for them. The angels further told the shepherds where they would find Jesus. The shepherds as per the instructions went to the manger and to their utter joy found their savior lying in the manger beside Mother Mary and Joseph.

The Gospel of Matthew has a different conception about Birth of Jesus. According to this Gospel it was Joseph who was told about the forthcoming birth of Jesus. This was told to Joseph in a dream. He was further instructed in his dream to name the baby Jesus or Emmanuel. The appearance of a star tells about the birth of Jesus to a few magi. After the birth of Jesus few wise men came to pay him devotion.

No date of Birth of Jesus has been mentioned as such though now it is celebrated on 25th December as Christmas. In Eastern Christianity however the birth of Jesus is celebrated on the late night of 6th January. Better known as Epiphany this day also celebrates the baptism of Jesus by John.

Jesus is believed by the Christians to be the Messiah, the son of God himself, sent to the world to protect the people. The Christians and non- Christians alike celebrate Birth of Jesus with much pomp and splendor. The celebration of the birth of Jesus known as Christmas begins in Catholic Church by the midnight Church service better known as Midnight Mass. The Eastern Orthodox Church starts keeping a fast 40 days before Christmas known as Nativity Fast. Nativity of Jesus
