Church Planting New Legal And Informal Religious Foundations

Church Planting may be defined as a process of establishing new churches. The term also relates to establishment of churches as a legal organized group and also a simple church that may not formally organized.

The task of Church Planting is usually done with the assistance of a denomination, church planning center, local church, a network or association and several other church planting sources. There are several diverse views on this subject and the methods of establishing churches. One section of people are in favor of a simple, uncluttered, unstructured approach in planting a new church starting with a few families and holding meetings in homes.

The other section of he people are in favor of a high yield and high impact strategy which involves extensive preparation before a formal launch with a purpose of attracting hundreds of people to the first worship service. There are several models for Church Planting. The mode is chosen by the leaders according to the requirement of the community in which the church will be structured.

There are several methods of Church Planting like The Parachute Drop, Mother/Daughter, Collaborated Network/Partnership, House Church/Cell Church, Satellite/Campus/Multi-site, Restart/Re-launch, Church Split and many others. In the Parachute Drop Method a church planter and their family relocate to a new location to start a new church from the scratch.

In Mother/Daughter establishment method an already existing church or a Church Planting organization (mother) provides the guidance for early commencement and leadership of the new church (daughter). The Collaborated/Partnership method is the most fast emerging method in which an organization forms an informal alliance in planting churches.

In the House Church networks several small groups including 5 to 20 people form a network of people meeting in homes. These individual cells are connected in a larger network, which meets periodically in a large group setting. This is a type of relational model of Church Planting that focuses primarily on personal growth, care and teaching through 1-on-1 and small group discipleship.

In a Satellite method an already existing church opens into new locations. In the restart method, an existing church that is struggling, takes a decision o burry the old and plant a new fresh church. A Church Planting can also occur when there is a split between two groups governing a already existing church. For the different sections of Christianity like Anglicans and the Catholics the church planting can prove to be quite problematic due to the territorial nature of the diocese. Church Planting
