Hyundai Genesis Rear Wheel Drive Full Size Luxury Car

Hyundai Motor Company debuted a concept car Hyundai Genesis, a rear wheel drive full size luxury car for New York International Auto Show last year. Being the predecessor Of Hyundai Dynasty the four-door sedan is Hyundais latest attempt to compete against Brands like Lexus, Volvo, Cadillac, BMW and Mercedes-Benz with undisputed luxury and feature at a discounted cost.

Over the 5-year development period Hyundai Genesis has reported to be benchmarked the BMW 5 Series sedan as it is claimed to exceed BMW in torsion rigidity by 14%. Adaptive cruise control, adaptive headlamps, Bluetooth technology, navigation are reported to be using technologies and conveniences that are not seen on the previous Hyundai models. It also has a system equivalent to BMWs iDrive making it more and close competitor of BMW.

Having a FR Layout Hyundai Genesis is reported to be having three Engine types – 3.3 Lambda V6, 3.8L Lambda V6 and 4.6L Tau V8 also consists of 8 Speed automatic Transmission. 197.0 inches i.e. nearly 5004 mm in Length, 73.3 inches i.e. 1862 mm wide and having a height of 58.7 inches i.e. nearly 1491 mm Hyundai Genesis will be having a wheelbase of 115.6 in i.e. 2936 mm. The Tau V8 is announced to be the first complete in-house 8 cylinder engine from Hyundai and also Hyundais first V8 containing Vehicle.

The V8 Hyundai Genesis can catch an acceleration of the range 0 to 6o mph in less than 6 seconds of time. Assembled at Ulsan, Korea Genesis went on its home market South Korea for sale on January 8, 2008 and just three weeks alter hit Chinese market. Although there is no concrete plan for launching it to the European market because of the perception regarding this brand and market condition It is expected to be launched into the market of North America and Middle East in the summer of 2008.

The 3.8L Hyundai genesis will produce up to 306Hp which will start pricing at slightly below US$30,000 in the U.S. The 4.6L V8 genesis will start pricing from US$35,000 which will produce an estimated 375HP. The 3.3L V6 Genesis will produce 266Hp. The 3.8L and 4.6L Tau V8 are the models available in North American as of now. The Tau V8 engine is claimed to produce more power and torque than the engines found in well known models like Lexus GS450, BMW 750i and Audi A8.

As the described nomenclature, Hyundai Genesis, having the features like Smart Cruise Control (SCC), Adaptive Headlamps, Harman/Becker Lexicon Audio System and a Driver Information System, will enforce the targeted consumers to change their perception as it is said to be only the beginning of a fresh start.
