Paul Fusco Actor Producer Director And Voice Over Artist

Paul Fusco was born on 29th January 1953 in New Haven, Connecticut. He is active in various departments of audio-visual art such as acting, production and direction. He is a very well known voice-over artist and creator of ALF show. He is the Vice President of Alien Productions.

Interested in television and film, during late 1960s, Paul Fusco worked in the audiovisual department of Hamden High school in Hamden, Connecticut. He participated in a local children's TV show and various other works which included stage magic/ventriloquism and audio visual. During the early 1980s, when puppet builders and fellow puppeteers Bob Fappiano and Lisa Buckley started their careers in the TV industry, Paul came in their contact and worked together to make various TV specials for HBO, Showtime etc.

The idea of ALF came to the mind of Paul Fusco around 1985. He conceived ALF as an alien character that moved around his house and annoying his family. NBC's Brandon Tartikoff appreciated the idea and commissioned the show, jointly handled by Paul and TV/Movie writer Tom Panchett. The show was offered as a sitcom. Beginning in 1986,ALF was a big success. There were 102 episodes spanning four seasons. Interestingly, the show was initially offered to the Disneys who wanted to buy the character and the show concept outright. But, the duo decided against this idea.

As the live action sitcom was drawing to an end, NBC also aired an cartoon show titled ALF The Animated Series (set on Melmac) and later ALF Tales (based on classic stories, retold with twisted themes). Created and produced by Paul Fusco, the cartoon was about ALF and his family before their planet Melmac exploded. The animation show was projected as if a present day ALF was reading out letters from viewers and telling stories about life back home.

'Paul Fusco Productions' produced a TV movie aired on ABC called Project ALF, after the sitcom had a cliffhanger end on NBC in 1995-96, while many fans of ALF were wondering what would happen to ALF. From 1996-2001, ALF , assisted by Paul Fusco , made many guest appearances in various TV shows. ALF's popularity continued to be on steady rise . While on its comeback trail, ALF appeared on NBC's 75th Anniversary Show and the TV Land Awards 2003. At present, Paul Fusco have started ALF's Hit Talk Show for TV Land in the USA, which is a mix of celebrity chat and funny skits.

Early 1990s, Paul Fusco produced a show , titled ' Spacecats' which did not feature ALF.This show was a mix of live action puppetry and animation. Paul lent his voice to Captain Catgut, the leader of the 'Spacecats'. However, only 13 episodes were transmitted because NBC canceled kids' shows on Saturday mornings.
