Men In Black 2 Science Fiction Starring Will Smith And Lee Jones

Making of sequels to box office hits is a known custom of Hollywood. It is used to take the story further by fulfilling the viewers thirst for more insight into the characters. In some rare cases the sequel meets the standards of quality set by the first and in others they fail drastically. In the middle ground of these two extremes lie films such as Men In Black 2. It revisits the fanciful world created by the original film inhabited by stoic men in black suits, incredible aliens and creative weapons.

Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld Men In Black 2 stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones. The movie also stars Lara Flynn Boyle, Jonny Knoxville, Rosario Dawson and Rip Torn. It is the sequel to Men In Black, based on the Malibu comic book series The Men In Black by Lowell Cunningham.

Men In Black 2 is a science fiction comedy action movie which focuses on Agent J who works for MIB. While investigating an apparently routine crime a diabolical plot hatched by Sarleena, an evil Kyolothian monster disguised as a lingerie model, is discovered. Agent J must convince Agent K who has no memories of his time spent with the agency about the potential danger. He is the only person alive who has the expertise to save the galaxy and to reunite the MIB before Earth is destroyed.

A large part of the plot of Men In Black 2 deals with agent Js relationship with Laura, a witness to Sarleena. Instead of obliterating Lauras memory of Sarleena Agent J nourishes it. Ultimately she is revealed as a semi-divine being known as the light of Zartha. This requires her to return to her ancestral home world Zartha. As Laura is transported to Zartha, Sarleena who has all along been seeking the Light of Zartha desirous to possess it is killed.

Men In Black 2 has an excellent casting-each of them suited exceedingly well for the characters. Smith in the role of J extends the humanity of the character without losing the tough aspect of the cop. He has an excellent working chemistry with Jones.

Lara Flynn is outstanding as a slimy alien that poses as an underwear model in Men In Black 2. The film had won two awards in 2002 the Bogey Award in Platin organized by Bogey Awards, Germany and in the year 2003 the BMI Film Music Award. It also had 8 other nominations in various categories by other award committees such as the Saturn Award, PFCS Award for the best makeup among others.

Men In Black 2 has received a wide variety of comments from the critics who differ in their opinion about the film. On the other hand another critic Mick LaSalle regarded it in every way to be an improvement from the original Men in Black film of 1997. Men in Black II
