Free Pets Given To The Owner Without Any Cost And Often Used As Baits

Free Pets are animals that are given as pets to people by the owner free of cost. Mostly pets are given for free when the owner realizes that he or she may not be able to take care of the pets. This might happen, for example, when the family is moving out for good and cannot take care of the pet.

It can also happen when the owner has some health or financial problems and has difficulty in taking care of his dear old pet. The owner loves his pet very much and parts with it with a heavy heart. In such a situation, he tires to find an able new owner for the pet and at the same time he does not want to trade with his beloved possession for money. This is the reason he gives his pets away as free pets.

Hence the new owner is expected to take care of the pet as much as the previous owner. But it is seen, that when free pets are taken, the new owners dont care for them as much. This is because something got free is not given much value. Moreover the people who take pets for free dont have the finances to take care of them. Hence they cannot give them a good and healthy life. If one does not want to charge for a pet, the fee taken can be given to any animal welfare organizations, which are really in need of such help.

It has been seen that once free pets are handed over, to an uncommitted owner, the pets are relegated to the streets, where they suffer insecure lives. The next thing that can happen to these dogs is that they are made to undergo euthanasia. Another thing that happens is that as an uncommitted owner does not train these dogs, they are subjected to abuse on exhibiting inappropriate behavior. There is inconsistency in the caring process.

There are some professionals also who pose as genuine dog lovers and buy free pets to sell them to people who use these pet dogs to train fighter dogs who might kill them in the process; to auction houses and flea markets where the destiny of the pet is under stake; to research laboratories where they stand a risk of being abused and later euthenized; in commercial breeding facilities, where they lead unhealthy lives; as a food bait for some exotic breeds of reptiles; and even to satisfy some religious rituals.
