Maria Bartiromo CNBC Business Anchor Closing Bell


Maria Bartiromo is a prominent business news anchor in the United States. She is also a reporter and also conducts interviews for CNBC television. She is the co-host of the Closing Bell program, which is telecast between 3 and 5pm EST, every weekday. She is also the host and the managing editor of the Wall Street Journal Report with Maria Bartiromo. NewsBios.com has named Maria Bartiromo as one of the 100 most influential business journalists in US, in 2007.

Maria Bartiromo writes columns and articles for various business interest magazines as well as general interest magazines. She has also written a book called Use the News: How to Separate the Noise from the Investment Nuggets and Make Money in Any Economy. She has been honored with awards like the Union League of Philadelphias Lincoln Statue Award in 2004 and the Coalition of Italian-American Associations Excellence in Broadcast Journalism Award in 1997. She had been nominated for a Gerald Loeb Award for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism in 2002. She received the nomination for covering a series that had focused on the widows of those who had died in the 9/11 World Trade Center attack.

Maria Bartiromo in her childhood days was staying at the Bay Ridge section of southern Brooklyn. Her father was a chef at an Italian restaurant and she used go there as a teenager and checked coats. She completed BA degree in journalism from the New York University and also a minor in economics from the same place. Bartiromo got married to Jonathan Steinberg on 13th June 1999. Jonathan is the son of the failed investor Saul Steinberg. Jonathan Steinberg was the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Individual Investor Group. It is now an obsolete financial services company. It was based in Manhattan.

Maria Bartiromo joined CNBC in 1993. Before that she had been working as a producer and an assignment editor at CNN Business News. After taking over from Roy Blumberg, Bartiromo became the most popular news reporter to report live from the New York Stock Exchange floor. At CNBC she has hosted the Marketwatch program and had been a regular contributor to Squawk Box.

Maria Bartiromo has also made appearances on numerous non-financial television shows, including NBC Universal's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Real Time with Bill Maher, Late Night with Conan O'Brien as well as guest-hosting on Live with Regis and Kelly. Her current contract with CNBC gets over in 2008. Maria Bartiromo
