Fermenting grape juice, using different yeasts, which convert the sugar in the grape juice to alcohol, mainly produces wine. Grape juice has a natural balance of chemicals, which allows for fermentation even without adding sugar, enzymes, etc. The generic name given to wines produced from the juices of other fruits like apples or berries is fruit or country wine. Wine is an alcoholic beverage and is now associated with good taste, wealth and romance, hence the importance of Wine Education, while entertaining guests, business colleagues etc.

The bottling of wines is an important part of wine education. Most wines are bottled in glass bottles, sealed with a cork, which allows the wine to breathe. But nowadays some wine producers are also using screwcaps and plastic corks. Since the wine stored in bottles easily spoils, some wine producers package wine in thick plastic bags, which are again packed in cardboard boxes. This improves the longevity of the wines.

The storage of wines plays an important part in maintaining their quality, and improve the aroma, flavor etc. over time. Hence the knowledge of storage of wines is also an important part of wine education. If not stored properly the wines, like any other food product will spoil. Hence all wines are stored in special wine cellars. These cellars protect the wine from exposure to adverse influences like fluctuation in temperature, light, heat etc.

A study conducted in 2007 as a part of wine education shows that wines have definite anti-bacterial properties, especially in relation to some strains of the bacteria Streptococcus. Not only this red wines contain resveratrol which is responsible for the health benefits of red wines.

Then again there is the popular French paradox, which indicates that the instances of cardiac ailments is lower in France as compared to the United States, despite the higher consumption of saturated fat in France. Although not definite, some studies have also confirmed that wine is cardio protective, which increases the importance of wine education.

Hence the moderate consumption of wine is considered good for health. Wine has also played an important part in certain traditional religious ceremonies. Not only that wine is known to have been used for application on wounds. Pearls and several gemstones which were earlier dissovled in wine to improve its health benefits as per some historical evidence. Hence it can be said that wine education also includes the study of the history of wine.

The vintage of the wine, i.e. the year in which the grapes were grown, is important for wine drinkers because the older the wine the better it tastes. This increases the cost of the wine directly proportional to its vintage making rare and old wines are collectors item, for which wine education is necessary.

As learned by the studies in wine education the rich history of wine dates back about 8,000 years, originating in present day Georgia or Iran. Wine is believed to have been introduced in Europe about 6,500 years ago. Hence from religious ceremonies, to medicinal use, to an association with romance and also a valuable collectible, wine has many facets. Wine
