Christianity Religion Spread By Jesus Christ With Most Adherents

Christianity, a monotheistic religion, is based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. It originally started in Palestine as a part of Judaism. Jesus was a Jew ande lived from around 3 BC to 30 AD. He lived and taught in Palestine, mostly among his fellowmen.

In its initial period Christianity remained confined to the Middle East, North Africa, Europe and parts of India. Later on with colonization and spread of missionary activities, it spread to other parts of the world as well. At present it is the largest religion in the world with 2.1 million adherents.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God who suffered and died at the cross to purge the sins of man is considered to be the focus of Christianity. He is the founder of the religion that led to ultimate salvation of mankind. The Christians allover the world believe that Jesus will come to earth to judge all men, both living and dead, and the sinners will be sent to hell for eternal torment and the devout followers will be granted everlasting life in heaven. Prophesized in the Bible the judgment day is known as the Doomsday.

Though there are some differences of opinion among the different sects, all of them share a common faith. Most Christians share some common set of beliefs, which is considered to be the central teaching of the religion. Christianity mainly has three aspects-it is a set of beliefs, a way of life and a community of people. Though different sects give different weightage to these three aspects, all have a common basis, the life and teachings of Christ.

The essential doctrine of Christianity is the belief in the Holy Trinity comprising of the God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. It is a complex doctrine but in its simplest interpretations it implies that God exists in three Persons. God who is infinite and unperceivable to the finite human beings can only be felt by perceiving the actions of Christ and the Holy Spirit.

Followers of Christianity consider the Bible as the authoritative text. The teaching of Jesus Christ is believed to have been written down by his disciples after his crucifixion to spread his word. Though it is written by human hand it is considered infallible because it is said that they wrote under the guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The Bible has been divided into two parts, the Old Testament dealing with the Jewish scriptures and the New Testament dealing with the teachings of Christ. Christianity
