
The world of professional football of the United States has seen many personalities who have played the game just as a professional. They did not have too much involvement in the game apart from their playing years. On the other hand, there have been people who have decided to dedicate his entire life towards the game. As a result, even after their playing career they are still found to be involved in some kind of activity or the other centering the game. Major Applewhite is one of them.
Major Lee Applewhite was born on 26th July, 1978. He was a native of Baton Rouge, a small city in the state of Louisiana. Right from his early life as a school and a college student, he was actively involved in the game of football. He was a regular member of both his school and the college team. In fact, it was his wonderful performance as a quarterback in the football team of the University of Alabama had showed him the gateway to the NFL.
Major Applewhite became a member of the Texas Longhorns in 1998. Initially, he played in the position of a starter. He was responsible for giving his team a victory over the University of Nebraska in his debut season. His rivalry with Chris Simms, the player of the New York Giants had been a matter of discussion on the table for a long time in his career. In most of the encounters between the two, Major was able to be on the stronger side.
However, the sad thing about Major Applewhite is the fact that the world of professional football was not able to see this man playing for long. However, he was not the one who would leave the game in all aspects. In order to remain associated with the game he loved so much, he began his career as a football coach. He was first offered the post of a quarterback coach at the Syracuse University.
Major Applewhite, down the line became the football coach of a lot of Universities across the country. He worked in the Rice University, Iowa State University, University of Houston, Baylor University and many more. His coaching ability was very appreciable, as a result of which he had gathered a huge demand for himself in this field. Recently, he is working as a quarterback coach in the Texas A&M University.
