Medical System Legal Financial Framework For Healthcare

Medical system refers to the legal, financing framework set up by the government of any country for the health care of the individuals. It specifies the way in which treatment and medicine is provided to the masses. Universal health care systems are set up to ensure proper delivery of the medical facilities.

Compulsory private or co-operative health insurance funds are ensured for the people or government sponsored funding is allotted for the people through the health system of a country to ensure that the entire population has access to medical facilities. These are given on a need basis and do not depend on what one can afford. These are either provided by private organizations or government hospitals and clinics or even through charitable organizations.

Medical care can be delivered in 3 ways, primary, secondary and tertiary. While primary health care, is provided by doctors and other professionals who come in contact with the patient seeking treatment, first. It can be in hospitals, clinics etc.

When these people are referred to specialists, who may be available in emergency rooms, intensive care units, diagnostic laboratories etc. secondary Medical care services are provided. Tertiary health care is provided by specialist hospitals or clinics that are equipped to diagnose and treat certain diseases such as burn treatment centers, trauma centers etc.

In order to carry out a perfect diagnosis of the patient, a medical evaluation is carried out. It consists of the medical history of the patient, a system enquiry, physical examination- to find out details about the problem, thorough analysis of the data collected and finally taking a medical decision about how the treatment should be carried out. Anatomy, physiology, pathology and psychology are the 4 main areas of study for the doctors. Based on their knowledge in these disciplines, they diagnose, treat people and provide medication.

Apart from the doctors, there are other highly trained health care professionals who provide medical care to the patients. Nurses, respiratory therapists, speech therapists, dietitians, laboratory scientists, etc. are the trained health care professionals. There are 4 major medical specialties consisting of surgical specialties, internal medicine, diagnostic specialties and anesthetics. Doctors specialize in certain internal medicinal fields. Apart from these, there are also other interdisciplinary sub-specialties like Bioethics, Clinical Pharmacology, and conservation medicine, Forensic medicine etc.

In order to become medical doctors, special degrees have to be obtained from universities, accredited by a medical board. They must be registered or license holders to be able to practice medicine and offer treatment to the patients. Though most countries try to provide best medical services to the citizens, health care systems in most countries, including the US do not guarantee medical care for all people and are still concentrated for those who can afford to pay for it. Medicine
