Maury Travis Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 1986 Convict

Maury Travis was born on 25th October, in the year 1965. He was arrested on the charges of murder. He has supposedly killed at least 12 prostitutes and 17 more people between the year 2000 and 2002. All the incidents took place in his home in Ferguson.

One day by mistake Maury Travis put a map on the body of one his victims. Investigators found the map and traced it to Expedia.com, which was found to be linked with his computer. He had done video recordings of murders that took place in the basement of his house. Most of the prostitutes whom he had killed were drug-addicts. Some of the bodies were found along roadsides.

One tape shows that Maury Travis was a murderer and he recorded his activities. He labeled the tape as Your Wedding Day. On seeing those tapes Police Chief Joe Mokwa was so disturbed that he had to meet a psychologist. Travis was a waiter in a hotel. After getting arrested he committed suicide in his prison cell. He was 36 years old at the time of his death.

In one of his letter Maury Travis boasted of killing 17 women. The St. Louis police have released videotape. ABC News has broadcast the program nation wide. Police claim that they had enough evidence to arrest Travis. They got a letter about a slain prostitute. A map was present along with letter, which showed where the body was exactly found. The letter helped the police to locate the actual place of murder. They also found the link to Expedia.com. The police did adequate research before arresting Travis.

After he was arrested, Maury Travis was put in a high security prison. A security was constantly placed outside his cell so that a regular could be kept on him. He committed suicide while having a shower, the only time when no watch could keep on him. Though the police faced the wrath of facing a prison death, they are confident that Travis was a serial killer. Travis did not agree of committing those murders. The police say that have done proper investigations before zeroing down to Travis.

Police say that Maury Travis had left enough evidence on the net against him. People are not aware that they leave some evidence about themselves when they surf the net. Through the Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 1986 prosecutors can gather information from a web site company. All proof against Travis was gathered from the Internet companies. Though the court could not sentence Travis to death, police do not feel guilty of arresting a wrong person. Maury Travis
