Janet Napolitano Third Female Governor Arizona


Janet Napolitano was born on November 29, 1957. The U.S. state of Arizona is currently governed by her. She was first elected in 2002, and re-elected in 2006. She had made a record by becoming Arizona's third female governor, and the first female to win re-election. In November 2005, she earned the title of One of the Five Best Governors in the US by the Time magazine. In February 2006, Napolitano was named one of 8 in 08, which was a group of eight female politicians who could possibly run and/or be elected president in 2008.

Janet Napolitano is a prominent national advocate for education and immigration reform. Being a Democratic governor, the brave female had arranged for the funding for the public education system, health care programs, teachers pay, state government workers pay, and prison employees pay. She had signed the legislation which had offered kindergarten in the voluntary mode throughout Arizona.

Governor Janet Napolitano is one of our nations most innovative, influential and inspirational leaders. For moving the states to the 21st century the reins taken by her as the 21st governor of Arizona was commendable. She was chosen by Time Magazine as one of Americas Top Five Governors, Janet Napolitanos hallmark is common sense – she does what makes sense and what works.

Janet Napolitano showed her persistent role in the fight for quality schools, affordable health care, sensible and forward-thinking economic development, a safe homeland, and has taken extensive measures to create fiscal responsibility and to end bureaucratic waste. Nations first state counter-terrorism center was opened by her, she had participated in the signing of the legislation for a prescription drug card for seniors and had also signed into law property and income tax cuts, which were proposed by the Republican Legislature.

Janet Napolitano was born in New York City. Her parents were Jane Marie Winer and Leonard Michael Napolitano. Her father was the Dean of the University Of New Mexico College Of Medicine. She partially possess Italian heritage on her father's side. She was brought up in the manner of a Methodist in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, from where her graduation from Sandia High School in 1975 was done and she was voted Most Likely to Succeed.

Janet Napolitano had started her professional career as a Phoenix-area prosecuting attorney and as the U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona. Among her siblings was her younger brother named Leonard Napolitano and among her good friends was David Addington, who would become legal counsel to and then chief of staff for Vice President Dick Cheney. Napolitano is a member of the Democratic Party. Janet Napolitano
