Nadia Olympic Gold Medal Winner Gymnast

Nadia is the former Olympic Gold medal-winning gymnast, who was the first perfect ten-point owner in an Olympic event. Within the two Olympics, from 1976 to 1980 she won five gold medals, three silver medals and a bronze medal. Not only that she also had performed tremendously well in the Gymnastic World Championships and European Championships. After retirement she began to train the young gymnasts and still now may be she is the best-known gymnast in the world.

At her first Olympic appearance in 1976, she had been scored seven perfect tens, in which three gold medals were included. In that Montreal Olympic, Nadia won her first gold in the event Beam Balancing, followed by Uneven Bars and All-Around events. She captured the bronze medal in Floor Exercise with a silver medal in the Team Composition. With those five Olympic medals when she had been back in her native country Romania, the whole nation welcomed her as a national heroine.

After four years at the next in Moscow Olympic she secured total four medals. No bronze was there, but two gold and the same number of silver medals came into Nadias pocket. In Beam Balancing she captured gold this time also, with that the bronze of Floor Exercise turned into the gold this time. But Nadia was unable to occupy the first place of the All-Around and captured the second spot with another event of Team Composition.

These Olympic triumphs with the brilliant performances in World Championships and European Championships, she entered into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame. She won two gold medals at the 1978 and 1979 World Championships with the same number of silver medals. In three consecutive European Championships from 1975 to 1979 Nadia won nine Gold medals with a silver and two bronzes. In all three occasions she was the winner of All Around performance events. She had been declared her retirement from the competitive gymnastics in the year 1981.

After retirement she continued her trips and had attended some exhibitions as guest performer. Then she became a member of the Romanian Gymnastic Federation and worked as an assistant coach. Nadia provided gymnastic coaching to the young gymnasts of Romania until 1989 and just before the revolution of the country she left it. After spending some days in Hungary and Austria finally she placed herself in United States. Now she got the citizenship of America and holds her in-born citizenship of Romania also.

The gymnastic career, which she stared at the age of just six, has not ended yet as trainer. In April 1996 she got married to Bart Conner, who is also the Olympic gold medallist gymnast from United States. Two of his winning Olympic gold medals came from the 1984 Loss Angeles games.
