Iranian Navy is the smallest of the military branches of the Iranian armed forces. It has the sole objective of guarding its coastal waters and ports. The nations navy was earlier equipped with US and British weapons and ships. The navy added many US and British destroyers, frigates and smaller vessels including powerboats and hovercrafts in the following eight years.
