Naples Florida Golf Capital USA


Naples stands out as a prominent city in the Collier County in Florida. In fact it is the chief city of the Naples-Marco Island, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. However, even though it happens to be considered as a key city in Collier County, the city does not stand to be its county seat. Interestingly, the county seat is placed towards the east of the city.

Naples was established in the late 1880s. The honorable establisher of the city was Kentucky U.S. Senator John Stuart Williams, who also happened to be the Confederate general. However, in the establishment task he was accompanied by his partner namely Walter N. Haldeman. He was a recorded to be a Louisville businessman and the upright publisher of the Louisville Courier-Journal.

On the other side of the century since its establishment the place changed in to a town. Naples derived its name from the developers. They gave the name since they believed and publicized that the city had a bay, which occurred to be quite similar to that of Naples in Italy.

Naples houses several land reserves. Some of the most common of them include Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge, Everglades National Park, Big Cypress National Preserve, Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge, and Picayune Strand State Forest. The city has several old establishments one of which is the Naples Zoo formed in 1919.

Interestingly, Downtown Naples occurs as the chief address to the The Naples Players. If you are interested in shopping antique goods once you visit the city you can wander through the 5th Avenue South and 3rd Street South shopping zones. In the Tamiami Trail one can find Waterside Shops which hosts several top-notch retail stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Gucci, Tiffany & Co., and Lacoste.

One of the most significant centers in Naples is the Philharmonic Center for the Arts, which is located in North Naples. This placed has the fame of hosting several celebrities; the name list includes Bill Cosby and many other well-known music talents across the globe.

The tourism industry needs special mention as you speak of the economy of Naples. The Marco Island and the Everglades are some of the hot spots among the tourists. Along with that the Paradise coast is another popular tourist destination.

For visitors from around the globe Naples has several prominent places of interest. Some popular destinations include names such as Naples Botanical Garden, Naples Pier and The Conservancy of Southwest Florida. Most importantly the city stands famous for having almost 80 championship golf courses. The place is quite popularly known as Golf Capital of the World. Naples Florida
