WFTV is a well known television channel that is found broadcasted among all the television networks of the United States. This channel 9 package has its main operating base in the city of Orlando of the state of Florida. The channel is owned by the Cox Enterprises and has been recognized to be official by the ABC network. This channel is primarily classified as a news channel and is transmitted both using analogue and digital signal communication.
The channel WFTV is not a new one. In fact, it has been launched as early as 1958, on the 1st day of February. Initially, the name of this channel was a bit different from what it stands to be now. At that time it was named as the WLOF-TV. It meant We Loved Orlando Florida- TV. However, in the year 1963, it dropped off the O and changed it to the name that stands now. At that time, there was an independent news channel.
In 1984, the SFN Companies bought the WFTV. However, their relationship with each other was not a very memorable one and so the very next year the Enterprises sold its rights to the Cox Communication. However, all these issues on broadcasting rights had not affected the normal working of the channel. In fact it has been claiming and it still claims to be one of the Leading brands of news coverage in the city of Orlando, the channel features some of the great newsreaders and reporters of the modern day world.
The WFTVs archive gallery is also quite rich. One of the two best newsreaders of the 1980s and the 1990s, namely Bob Opsahl and Martie Salt has been news anchors in programs featured by this channel. As a matter of fact, Martie Salt has again joined the WFTV to be a member of the news reading team very recently in the year 2003. The presentation that these great personalities features in their shows have been a treat for the eye to watch and follow for decades.
As a result of them, the WFTV has been one of the most dominant news channels since the 1980s. It has overtaken other popular news channels like the WESH, which had been one of its tough competitors since its very inception. The CEO of the channel recently stated that they promise to keep up their work up to their reputation.
