CES Show Annual Trade Show Sponsored By Consumer Association

The International Consumer Electronics Show is popularly known as CES Show. The Consumer Association sponsors this trade show every year in the month of January in Las Vegas, Nevada. This show is meant to show the previews and also the latest products launched in the market. This show is a great source of knowledge as people gets to know more about the latest technologies being launched in the market.

In 1967 the first CES Show was organized in New York City. Initially between the years 1978 and 1994 there were two shows held each year. The first one popularly known as Winter Consumer Electronics Show (WCES) held every January venue at Las Vegas and the second one is called the Summer Consumer Electronics Show (SCES) held every June at Chicago Illinois. However from 1995 this trade show came up with a new format and was held once in a year on a large scale.

CES Show is one of the largest trade show held in Las Vegas while the other is CONEXPO-CON/AGG which takes place for 18 long days. The 2005 exhibition of this show was held between January 6 and January 9 venue at Las Vegas. The show began amusing the spectators as Bill Gates who is the Microsoft Chairman went wrong addressing the main fact about a device which failed while he was demonstrating it. Samsungs 102-inch plasma television was demonstrated and displayed in the same year.

The 2006 CES Show was held between January 5 and January 8 at Las Vegas Convention Center, the Sands Convention Center, the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel and Alexis Park Hotel. Bill Gates and many other manufactures demonstrated about HDTV in this event. More than 150,000 spectators were present in the show in 1.67 million square feet area. This was the largest electronics show ever held in United States.

The 2007 CES Show was held between January 8 to January 11 and the venue was the same as that of 2006 except Alexis Park Hotel which was replaced by the Venetian Hotel. This time Gary Shapiro the President/ CEO of Consumer Electronics Association had hosted the show along with Ed Zander who is the CEO and Chairman of Motorola. Many other charismatic people too were present on the show. Recently the 2008 CES Show exhibition was held between January 7 and January 10 in the same spot at Las Vegas. Bill Gates had formally announced that soon he will retire from Microsoft.

Some of the remarkable products launched in CES Show so far includes Microsoft Xbox (2001), Digital Video Recorders (DVR) (1999), HDTV (1998), Virtual Boy (1995), Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) (1985), Compact Disc (CD) Player (1981), Video Cassette Recorder (VCR) (1970) and lots more.
