Julie Jensen is a name to reckon in the show biz industry. A play writer, Julie was brought up in Southern part of Utah and right from her very childhood she had a passion towards theatre as well as associated activities. A significant fact about her is that she has worked as a professor in the domain of playwriting in as many as seven different colleges and universities. She has done her Ph.D. in theatre from the Wayne State University in Detroit and is known to be as one of the greatest play rights of all times.

Not only plays but also Julie Jensen has also written a number of movies in Hollywood. It is to be noted that the University of Nevada in Los Angeles does a graduate playwriting program under her guidance. The resident playwright at Salt Lake Acting Company, Jensen is a widely respected name in the theatre world. She has received several awards like the Kennedy Center Award for New American Plays (White Money), McKnight National Playwriting Fellowship, the TCG/NEA Playwriting Residency among others.

One of the major awards that Julie Jensen has received is that of the Joseph Jefferson Award for Best New Work (The Lost Vegas Series). Apart from that she has also won the Mill Mountain Theatre Playwriting Competition. In fact it was thrice that she won the completion and that is a record in itself. The plays for which she was acclaimed were tenterhooks, last list of mad mother and two headed. Apart from that American Theatre Critics Association has also selected her for being the best playwright who has produced play outside New York.
Julie Jensen is a playwright who has held shows in several cities across the globe. She is known for her sensitive and emotive depiction of people. In fact one of her play Two headed has captured much of public imagination and it is scheduled to be released in the year 2008. The story of this play involves one white family and one Native American family, who live side by side. This they do in the west desert of Utah and in the play we see that there is a ten-year-old Goshute girl living with a white family.


Julie Jensen is basically straying on a ranch with them and this is a property that is next to her tribe's ancestral land. The love and denial of the two families and their interdependence and resentment are traced in the play and what is a significant point is that towards the end of the play we see Albertine's great grandchildren grappling with decision to store high-level nuclear waste on their reservation. The play has several characters of mixed racial lineage and it was a play that was produced by a company called Black Cat Theatre. Ohioplaywriting
