Rob Portman Republican US House Of Representatives From Ohio

Rob Portman is a well known lawyer and a former Director of the Office of Management and Budget. He was born on December 19, 1955 and was the United States Trade Representative. This is a post carrying the rank of Ambassador.

Rob Portman is a Methodist by ideology. He was born in Cincinnati and had attended the Cincinnati Country Day School from where he graduated in 1974. A Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Ohio, he is a man who represents the state's 2nd congressional district. This is a large district that stretches along the Ohio River from the Hamilton County suburbs of Cincinnati east to Scioto Countyand since long has been discharging his duties there effectively.

Rob Portman was confirmed by the Senate as U.S. Trade Representative. This was in the month of April in 2005and later his swearing-in ceremony was performed by then-White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card. Soon he was also nominated by President Bush in order to fill the role of Budget Director; its former director, Joshua B. Bolten, was promoted to White House Chief of Staff.

Rob Portman acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College in 1979. Apart from that he also got a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of Michigan in 1984 and a significant fact was that he had also worked for the Washington, D.C. law firm of Patton, Boggs, and Blow. Apart from that he has also worked in one of the city's major law firms, Graydon Head & Ritchey LLP (GH&R). Later however he went to work President George H. W. Bush. He was the associate White House counsel in 1989 though sometime later he served as director of the Office of Cincinnati to GH&R, until his election to Congress.

Rob Portman is married to Jane and he as well as his wife is residents of Terrace Park in Hamilton County. They have three children and are a successful couple. This talented politician was elected to the House in his first race and this happened in a special election in 1993 to complete the term of Willis D. Gradison Jr who had unexpectedly resigned.

Later in the year 2006 Rob Portman was nominated by President Bush to be the Director of the Office of Management and Budget. Apart from that he was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on May 26, 2006and he came as a substitute for Joshua Bolten as OMB Director. In the year 2007, however citing personal reason Portman resigned his position of OMB director and is set to be replaced by former Iowa Congressman and failed gubernatorial candidate Jim Nussle.
