Alton Towers Theme Park

Visited by millions of customers every year, Alton Towers is one of the most popular theme parks located in United Kingdom. It is situated in the northern side of the village in Staffordshire that is approximately 16 miles east of Stoke-on-Trent.

Opened in 1980 Alton Towers was later purchased by The Tussauds Group in the year 1980. Later in the year 2005, Dubai International Capital purchased the Alton Towers for for £800million. There was another change in March 2007, when Tussauds Group was bought by Merlin Entertainments for over £1billion from DIC.Thus with this Alton Towers was placed under their control. July 2007 was also the witness to another change when the resort as well as the park was sold yo Nick Leslau, who now leased the park to Merlin Entertainments.

Alton Towers has many themed areas which are all popular among the many visitors who vist the park each day. Tower Street is the main place where the parks can be seen. This is a town street, which leads the viewers to gardens and the ruins of different towers. There are several shops in the streets that sell different kind of official park merchandise. These parks have skyrides, in which the visitors travel through Towers Street, Forbidden Valley, and Ug Land.

Merrie England is based on medieval England, where there are many traditional rides, which include the popular tea cup ride. There are several gaming sideshows through which the visitors can win several prizes. There are many food outlets that includes Mc Donalds, that is a unused 3D Cinema, along with a Courtyard Tavern. Katunga Canyon is based on an adventure area that has rides that include Runaway Mine Train and the Congo River Rapids. There are several restaurants in the area that include KFC and Pizza Hut. Alton Towers has many popular rides and games for all its visitors to enjoy.

The Gloomy Wood is another popular theme park of the Alton Towers. There is a small ghost and monsters theme area, that has the popular ride that is known as Duel: The Haunted House Strikes Back!.The ride was upgraded in the year 2003, that has laser plastic guns that shoot lights, that are usually scattered in different rooms and monsters. There is another introduction in the year 2007, in the form of Haunted Hollow. This is an outdoor walk walk-through following part of the route that is taken by the old railway.
