Tyler Palko New Orleans Saints Quarterback


Football player Tyler Palko is the quarterback for the New Orleans Saints of the National football League. New Orleans Saints had signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2007. Born on August 9, 1983 in Imperial, Pennsylvania, Palko attended West Allegheny High School.

During his high school years, he received a host of awards including Associated Press 2001 Pennsylvania Big School Player of the Year at West Allegheny and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette WPIAL Class AAA Player of the Year. He was named as the 2002 YMCA Tribune-Review Scholar-Athlete honoree in his high school senior year.

During his college days, Tyler Palko played for the University of Pittsburgh football team. It was here that he started his career as a lettered true freshman. In 2004, Palko became a redshirt-sophomore and earned second-team All-Big East honors. In the same year he was also named Pitts MVP and offensive captain as a first time starter. In the next year, Palko once again received the second-team Big East honors as a junior and remained captain for the second time in a row.

In the final season of 2006 as a Panther, Tyler Palko threw for 2,871 yards which is less than his totals in the previous two years but managed with 25 touchdowns, which surpassed his earlier records.In the season finale against the Louisville Cardinals, Palko threw for 307 yards with a touchdown, but threw three interceptions as well.

Tyler Palko s college career concluded with his position tied in the second position in school history in career touchdown passes along with former Panther Alex Van Pelt with a total of 66. He was also second in university history in career passing yardage, trailing Dan Marino by 254 yards. Palko is one of the top three passers in the history of Panther football history and his career total of 8,343 passing yards includes 66 touchdown passes.

Before being signed on by the New Orleans Saints on April 28, 2007, Tyler Palko remained undrafted in the 2007 NFL Draft. Post the release of Palko by the Saints at their final cut-down, he was signed for the practice squad of the Saints. However, he became the teams third quarterback after he was raised to the 53-man roster in order to play for the teams first regular season game. On the conclusion of the game, he was released and thereafter re-signed for the teams practice squad.

Tyler Palko was once again included in the team for its second game of the season after being promoted to the 53-man roster. He was signed back into the Saints practice squad on October 9, 2007. Although he was signed into the active roster for playing in the final game of the season, he was left out at the last moment after being declared inactive for the game. Tyler Palko
