Taste Of Colorado Food Festival

Taste of Colorado is a festival held in the Labor Day weekend and stands to celebrate the community spirit and pride of the region of Denver. Held at the Civil Center Park, downtown Denver, it brings together foods from over 50 restaurants and artisans and craftsmen display their wide variety of products along with educational programs.

Taste of Colorado tries to bring out the diversity in culture and heritage of the region. Festival of Mountain and Plain, one of the oldest festivals of Denver attached itself with this festival to widen its scope and therefore brings together a number of diverse programs. The food and beverage available at the festival comprise of traditional favorites, specialties, appetizers, entrees and desserts, in full and sample sizes.

The fine dining area, of Taste of Colorado, demonstrates the gourmet cuisine produced by well known chefs and also provides cooking demonstrations for the public. Music at the festival is also varied comprising of jazz, rock-n-roll, that promises to set the stage on fire. There are 8 stages in the festival, each holding some program, and all this without any cover charge. Even childrens programs are organized. Games, prizes, playhouse equipments, crafts have been designed for kids.

Apart from the programs, rides and entertainers are sure to make the Taste of Colorado a success. The Arts and Crafts Marketplace has over 250 booths showcasing different home and gift item, furniture, jewelry, imports and other things. Not only does this festival provide a taste of good food, but special programs are held every year, with special exhibits by the sponsors. The 2007 edition consisted of Colorado Mining Exhibits and Colorado Pioneer Arts demonstrations.

Taste of Colorado festival is supposed to be held from the 29th of August and continue till September 1, 2008. There is no admission fee and the labor day weekend would host the event at the Civil Center Park, downtown Denver. On weekends the fair is open from 10.30am to 10 pm while on Monday its 10.30am to 8pm. Friday has the timing from 4pm to 10pm. 2008 marks the 25th Anniversary of this festival.

In 1895, the Festival of Mountain and Plain was held to boost the community spirit and pride and was similar to a carnival. It included a parade, fireworks, displays by numerous trade, civic organizations and exhibits. In 1902, it was stopped due to lack of funds and efforts were made to revive it in 1912. Eventually, in 1984, Taste of Colorado was added and it showcased the best restaurants and specialties of the region. In 2005, Lincoln Street was added to the festival. Now, over 50,000 people celebrate their Labor Day weekend at the festival, enjoying whatever events it has to offer. Tasteofcolorado
