Taste Of Charlotte Lowes Food Festival


Taste of Charlotte is the largest food festival held in uptown Charlotte and is scheduled to take place from June 6th to 8th, 2008. It not only brings together a sample of the best food available in the region but also has different other activities like Adventure Village, Little Critter, a marketplace, and also a center stage that hosts different activities like live bands.

Tryon Stree, uptown Charlotte is the location for Lowes Taste of Charlotte, covering 5 city blocks from Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd to 6th street. The finest restaurants of Charlotte offer over 100 samples of the best food. Along with this there is live entertainment at the center stage, wine and beer at Tavern at the Taste and Adventure Village providing fun for children. In order to make purchases at the event Festival coins have to be used.

Festival coins, at Lowes Taste of Charlotte is available at every intersection of the event site. A large cup of coins consisting of 15 festival coins is available for $20. The coins required for food range from 1 to 3, while that for beverages range from 3 to 6. A number of restaurants consisting of Bombay Cuisine, Fuel Pizza, Dippin Dots, Planet Smoothie take part in the festival along with numerous others.

The center stage, of Lowes Taste of Charlotte hold performances by different performer. The 2007 schedule consisted of performances by Tropical Flavors Band, Cherry Bomb, U-Phonik, along with other programs like Best of the Taste Awards, The Loafers etc. Applications are now being taken for the 2008 event.

Kids of all ages can have fun at Adventure village in Lowes Taste of Charlotte, that provide numerous activities like Safari challenge Obstacle Course, 24 foot Adventure Slide, Blue Choo Train and many others. Little Critter Camp is a special area designed for kids below 6 years of age which has a toy camp, art camp, stroller parking and family picnic tables. The corner of MLK Blvd and 3rd street is the location for the Adventure village. The market place provides an open air shopping experience. Custom mirrors, purses, jewelry, gifts etc. are available. Prices range from $20 to $50.

Lowes Taste of Charlotte is open from 11am to 11pm on Friday and Saturday but its open from 11am to 6 pm on Sunday. Parking areas are available along with the opportunity to accommodate oneself at the Omni Charlotte Hotel, at the event site. Being a family event, it has something for every member and kids can also be brought along as there are numerous activities specially designed for kids. Entry to the fair is free and it depends on people how much they want to spend their, there is no lower limit. Tasteofcharlotte
