Where The Heart Is is a drama and also a romantic English film of the year 2000. It was directed by Matt Williams, produced by Susan Cartsonis, David Mc Fudzean, Patricia Whitcher and Matt Williams. The screenplay was written by Lowell Ganz. The movie was inspired from a Novel by Bille Letts. The Music of the movie was by Mason Daring. The distributors of the movie were 20th Century Fox.

Where The Heart Is is about the hardships of a 17 year old Novalee Nation who gets pregnant and is abandoned by her boyfriend, Willy Jack, when they were on their way to California from Tennessee for a short trip. Novalee was superstitious of the number 5. The couple stops at Wal Mart and after her purchase when she gets the exchange of $5.55 she runs back to the parking lot and learns that her boyfriend has left her alone.

Novalee in Where The Heart Is is very scared and not sure of what to do. Then she meets Thelma sister husband who presents her a buckeye tree. Novalee goes inside the bathroom again and when she comes out and sees that the store has closed and so she stays there making a note of things she uses from the store so as she can pay for it later.

Meanwhile Where The Heart Is shows that Willy is sent to jail for a few months as he was accused of robbing a store, actually the robbery was done by the girl to whom he gives lift on his way back. While at the jail he learns guitar.

Novalee goes to the library where she meets Forney, who used to look after his sister (librarian) when she was left into dark by an alcoholic. It was that night when Novalee had labor pains and was helped by Forney in order to deliver the baby. Novalee earned medias attention for the Wal Mart baby. She names her daughter Americus. Novalee was abandoned by her mother when she was 5 and now her mother too comes to see her. The movie Where The Heart Is shows the pains of female and their hardships.

The movie Where The Heart Is shows how a girl faces the trouble, makes friends and lives her life with her daughter. She makes three friends who help her in her trouble. They are Sister, Forney and Lexie (a nurse who is a single mother). Jack is out from jail and pursues a career in music whereas Novalee becomes a photographer.

Novalee in Where The Heart Is comes across Jack in a hotel lobby where she was being awarded for photography and Jack had lost his contract. Further when she realizes that her daughter has turned five months she rushes to her from the garden and sees that she has been kidnapped.

The climax in Where The Heart Is occurs when the daughter turns 5 Novalee gets the news that Jack has tried committing suicide. She goes to see Jack, Jack then confesses to her that he had lied to her about the fact that he has no feeling about the baby. He further regrets for everything he has done. Finally she feels that she should call back Forney who has always loved her and she lied to him that she does not love him. She then marries Forney. Anyhow the movie is quite deviated from the actual Novel. Where the Heart Is
