Sitting Bull Martyr Native American Tribes

Jumping Badger, the original name of the Sitting Bull was one of the greatest martyrs who belonged to the Native American Tribes of Hunkpapa, Lakota and Siounx. He was born in the year 1831 in the area around the Grand River, in the region of South Dakota. His name shines as one of the men who had dedicated his life towards the freedom of the Native Americans from the hands of the US Administration at that time.

Actually, Jumping Bagders father was named the Sitting Bull. He actually inherited the name from his father. On the other hand, his mothers name was Her-Holy-Door. Anyway, Jumping Badger, right from his early age had the power to run very fast, and was almost uncatchable by his tribe members.

Besides, Sitting Bull was also a wonderful horse rider and had attained a great accuracy in bow and arrow. In fact he was so efficient in them that he was sent to fight in a battle against the Crow warriors when he was only 14 years of age.

As Sitting Bull grew up, his stories of bravery and courage spread around the areas and he was given the permission to access the Sioux Warrior Society. By then, he had become efficient in using a lot of other weapons like the knife, tomahawk, war club and various other firearms. It was the time when the war was about to begin between the Dakota tribes and the US Administration as the latter violated the treaty that was previously signed between them.

Within a span of a few months, war broke out between the white and the black. Sitting Bull, felt highly agitated with the happenings that was taking place around him and also participated in the war. He participated in the Battle of Buffalo Lake, the Battle of Stony Lake and the Battle of Whitestone Hill but they were defeated. For two years, they fought without any success.

Later, Sitting Bull joined hands with Red Clouds and together they carried out many attacks on the whites. They made the administration think about coming in terms with them. He played an important role in a major victory at the Battle of Little Bighorn. When search operations were carried out, he fled to Canada and stayed there in disguise for a while. Coming back, he led the Ghost Dance movement. However, he eventually died in an encounter on 15th December, 1890. Sitting Bull
