The roadrunners are mainly two species of bird of the cuckoo family, Cuculidae, native to North and Central America in the genus Geococcyx. These two species of cuckoos called the Greater roadrunner and the Lesser roadrunner are dependent on the ground livelyhood. A large, long-legged bird in the cuckoo family is the Greater Roadrunner while the Lesser roadrunner is smaller with a significantly shorter bill but both having similar appearances and habits.

The Missisquoi River will be treated with chemicals in order to kill a parasitic fish called sea lamprey that attacks on some species of sport fish as revealed from the news of 7th November, 2008 news. The treatment was delayed for Wednesday owing to increase in water levels which was by then reduced. The sea lamprey is a type of jawless fish referred to as a parasitic lamprey.

Dr. Jane Goodall who is better described as a conservationist and a scientist has visited Melbourne as a part of her tour in Australia. She paid a visit to the Melbourne Zoo on October 8 and discussed about the efforts that should come on a worldwide basis to help preserve the endangered species from extinction. She launched a mobile phone recycling campaign during which she shred the stage with the resident gorillas of the Melbourne Zoo. The funds raised through this campaign would be utilized for the primate conservation work undertaken by the Jane Goodall Institute in Africa.
