Cape Fear 1991 Thriller Film

Starring all time favorite and immensely talented actors such as Nick Nolte, Robert De Niro, Jessica Lange and Juliette Lewis, Cape Fear is a thriller film released in the year 1991. The film was directed by Martin Scorsese. The film was nominated for two Academy Awards in the year 2003.

The story of the film, Cape Fear is about a Lawyer, whose family is threatened by an innocent man who has passed 14 years of his life in prison on charges of rape as a result of lawyers clever tactics and malpractice, which had left the actually accused free. The convicted man seeks revenge from the lawyer.

In the film, Cape Fear, Sam Bowden (Nick Nolte) is a lawyer, who moves to Florida along with his family to settle and start afresh. He cheats his wife and starts an affair with his 16 year old clerk, Lori Davis. Meanwhile, Sam had an illiterate past client, Max Cady (Robert De Niro), who had been sentenced 14 year imprisonment on rape charges due to Sams malpractice. Cady is released from the prison and seeks vengeance.

Cady makes a plan to destroy Sams family. He poisons the family dog, harasses Lori and wins the sympathy of Sams 15 year old daughter, Danielle. Sam resorts help of his local police friend, Eigert. Later he hires detective Kersek to beat and move Cady away from the family. They trap Cady in Sams house and in a blooded fighting Kersek is killed. Bowdens leaves the house immediately in fear. Cady follows them all the way to Bowden houseboat for a confrontation on the Cape Fear in North Carolina.

Cape Fear was released on 13th November 1991, in USA. The film was distributed by Universal Pictures. The film is a remake version of the 1962 film of the same name. The other stars in the film include Joe Don Baker, Gregory Peck, Robert Mitchum etc. this was Gregory Pecks final theatrical film. The film was originally reported to be directed by Steven Spielberg.

The film, Cape Fear was a major box office success and acquired huge critical acclaim. It earned 2 Oscar nominations for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Robert De Niro) and Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Juliette Lewis). The film was also nominated for 2 Golden Globe Awards in the same categories. Juliette Lewis won the KCFCC Award for Best Supporting Actress, in 1992. Cape Fear
