Cayman Islands Location Caribbean Isles

Cayman Islands comprises of the Grand Canyon, which is the largest and most populated of the three island group. The two sister islands are the Cayman Brac and the Little Canyon islands. These islands lie almost 89 miles ahead of the east and north eastern part of the Grand Canyon islands.

The Cayman islands are separated from each other with the channel and spread over a stretch of seven miles. The other small group of islands lies approximately 89 miles to the north-eastern part of the Western Caribbean seas. The Caribbean seas lie surrounding Cuba that is located almost 167 miles northwest to Jamaica.

The Cayman Islands are located at a distant stretch of land. The serene location and the natural beauty of the place are one of the biggest draw for the tourists flocking the place every year. The climate of the Mediterranean seas has made the seas and the exotic locales one of the biggest draw for the people for over four hundred years.

The total land mass covered by the Cayman Islands spreads over a 100 square miles of area. The Grand Cayman islands are spread over 76 square miles, Cayman Brac is spread over 14 square miles and the Little Cayman islands are spread over a total land mass of approximately 10 square miles. The Cayman Brac is the most dramatic topography of the three islands, which has a majestic buff lying to the west at about 151.75 square miles above the Spot Bay.

Cayman Islands have the little Caymans stretching over 10 square miles and a mile width, with an altitude of 55.75 ft. It also has the Bloody Bay Wall Marine Park, known as one of the best touring sites in the world especially for diving. The other important site of the place is the Booby Pond Nature Reserve, which has been recognized as an environmental site by RAMSAR and a nestling ground for the Caribbean population of the Red Footed Boobies.

The three islands of the Cayman Islands are formed by limestone outcroppings that form a range of the Cayman ridge extending beyond the Sierra Maestra mountain range to the southeastern part of Cuba. The islands are dry enough and not known for any drainage system that diurnally wash the inland system.

The deepest trench of the Caribbean seas probably lies between a stretch that comes between Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, which is more popular as the Cayman Trough and lies at almost four miles depth. To the South of the Cayman lie the coral reefs and the sea-shore of the Caribbean. It is one of the biggest draws for the places tourist interest as it has ideal conditions for spot-diving and sport fishing. Caymanislands
