John Wood Gold Logie Award Winner

John Wood was born on 14th July, 1946 in Melbourne, Victoria. He is an actor belonging to Australia and is also the winner of the Gold Logie Award. He came into the limelight for his performance as the Senior Sergeant Tom Croydon in the police drama namely Blue Heelers as aired by Seven Network.

John Wood initiated with his career in acting in the year 1967 by appearing in a guest role in an Australian television series namely Bellbird. He also turned up in a lot of Australian drama series as well as mini-series performing small roles. He also contributed towards the writing of four episodes of the series namely Prisoner.

John Wood got the big break in the year 1987 and gained immense publicity by doing the lead role of the magistrate Michael Rafferty in Rafferty's Rules. He was successful in getting the Logie Award for Most Outstanding Actor twice for his performance in the four seasons.

John Wood starred as the leading Tom Croydon in Blue Heelers in the year 1994, which turned out to be a major hit in Australia. Not only did he act in the show but also went on with the writing of many of its episodes. In the year 2006, the show was axed and Wood along with Julie Nihill were the only stars to be in the Blue Heelers team right from the start in 1994 to its termination in 2006.

John Wood also contested in the 2004 edition of the Australian Dancing with the Stars. He further went ahead with his work by starring as the barrister Grant Algie in Joanne Lees Murder in the Outback, which is a tele-movie that was aired on Channel Ten. In recent times he is reported to be hosting the travel series namely Wine Me, Dine Me on Channel Nine.

John Wood also had a lot of knowledge about stage acting and was a good stage actor. His well known performances are The Real Inspector Hound, Love Letters, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying to name a few.

John Woods achievements include the TV Week Logie Award in the year 1988 and 1989 for being Most Outstanding Actor for starring in Rafferty's Rules. He also got nominated for the Gold Logie for being the most popular personality on Australian television right from 1997 to 2006 on a regular basis.
