
Paula Julie Abdul was born on 19th June, 1962. She is a American singer, dancer, designer and a stupendous television personality. She has won multiple Emmy Awards and her exceptional singing albums have earned her Grammy Awards. In the 1980s she started off as a cheerleader for an NBA basket ball team called Los Angeles Lakers. She went on to become a dance choreographer.
The era of television made her from a mere choreographer to a top the charts as a Pop singer. She has sold more than 53 million records. Paula Abdul had many ups and downs in her career before her success as a judge in the famous show of American Idol. She and her sister grew up in the San Fernando Valley with their parents Harry Abdul and Lorraine Rykiss. Growing up Gene Kelly's film Singin' in the Rain was the inspiration to her career.
Since age eight she had a reputation of being incomparable at dancing. Paula Abdul received a scholarship to a dance camp near Palm Springs. She has released multiple dance videos in 1995 which got her immense fame and fortune. She had become an inspiration for every young girl who loved to dance. Her debut singing album in 1988 took 62 weeks to hit the number one spot in the Billboard. Eventually, the album went on to be multi-platinum in 1989.
Her second album in 1991 sold 13 million copies worldwide. Hits like Rush, Rush topped every chart in the music industry. The fans were spellbound when they witnessed her videos and highly appreciated her singing. She promoted her albums through many tours in 1991 and 1992. Her exclusive dance commercials popularized Diet Coke in 1991. Despite of her fame Paula Abdul's personal life began to restrain her progress. She began helping her family members and she herself had the disorder of bulimia.
After all the personal problems Paula Abdul returned to the main screen with her new album Head Over Hills. It received mixed reviews with more negative comments than positive ones. Despite of few songs topping the charts, her performance as a whole wasn't effective like her prior albums. In the same year, she got married for the second time to Brad Beckerman. After her disastrous third album she withdrew from the music business along with divorcing with Beckerman in 1998.
She made her comeback through the famous series of American Idol in 2002. Paula Abdul starred as one of the three judges besides Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson. She was known to be a sympathetic and compassionate judge. She was having an amazing time in the show which put her career back on track. She also appeared as a judge on X factor in 2006. She battled a lot of legal issues in 2007.
