Arthur Rubinstein is considered to be one of the greatest players of piano that the 20th century has ever produced or witnessed. This well-known personality was born on 28th January, 1887. His plays were so charming that he kept his audience almost spell bound through his notes. Though he had American citizenship, Arthur was actually of a Polish origin. In fact, he was born in the country of Poland.

Pianist Rubinstein was born among a Jewish family. He was not like the other normal boys. In fact, he did not learn to speak even when he was three years of age. Thus, development in him came a bit late in his early stages. However, right from that age, Arthur had a liking towards playing piano. Many people were simply surprised to see him so much interested in this musical instrument. Everybody could figure out that in future, he would take up playing piano as his main objective in life.

After completing studies in Warsaw, the pianist Rubinstein made his first appearance on stage in the city of Berlin in 1900. His performance was very appreciable and so he started getting request of playing piano from many parts of the country. He stated performing in big and small stages across the country of Germany. In the year 1904, Arthur went to Paris in order to play the Camille Saint-Saens' Piano Concerto No. 2.

After a successful campaign, the pianist Rubinstein got to New York in order to perform in a piano concerto. By then, his plays have reached a very high level of fame and popularity. He also went to Austria and Italy to perform on stage. However, in 1912, he settled down in London. He remained there till the end of the First World War and then as usual, went out touring again. After the Second World War, Arthur refused to tour any more and became a permanent resident of the United States.

The pianist Rubinsteins solo performances in the concerts were something that everyone cherished to hear in those days. He ha also partnered and played with many eminent musicians and their groups of those days, namely Henryk Szeryng, Jascha Heifetz, Gregor Piatigorsky and the Guarneri Quartet. He was honored with the title of KBE (Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire).This great individual died on 20th December, 1982 at the age of 95. Arthur Rubinstein
