Bethlehem Star Christ Birth Indication To Magi

The Bethlehem Star, also known as the Jesus Star or the Christmas Star, according to the Bible, is the star that indicated the Magi that Jesus has been born. In fact, it is this star that has guided them to the birthplace of Jesus. The Magi were actually the three men who according to the New Testament are said to live in the east and have come all the way from there to Jerusalem just to see the baby, who they believed was the King of the Jews.

Thus, the Christians believe that that the Bethlehem Star was actually a sign that was sent by the God to them that he had sent Christ to their rescue. However, there is no sure evidence as to when this star was seen by the Magi. According to the Matthews account, the star was not a sign sent by God to indicate Christs birth as by the time the Magi reached to see Jesus he had turned into a child.

Many views and opinions have been raised regarding the Bethlehem Star. Each any every people tried to explain its occurrence in their own ways. Some people had a more natural way of explaining the occurrence while others, including John Chrysostom, the archbishop of Constantinople, asserted that it was a miraculous incident. According to him, it is impossible for a star to specifically point out a particular place on earth, that too so small place like a manger, if it had not really come down.

However, there have been evidences to prove what the Bethlehem Star actually was. In the year 1614, a German scientist exclaimed that what we have considered to be a sign sent by God might actually be an impact caused as a result of conjunctions of the planets Jupiter and Saturn which is said to have occurred around the year 6 BC. Another school of thought believes that it may be the planet Uranus that might have come so much closer to the earth that it created such an impression.

Whatever may be the facts and findings, the Bethlehem Star is still accepted to be seen on the year in which Jesus was born. Considering the fact that the king who ruled at that time died on the 4 BC, the star has been seen in the sky somewhere between the 4 and the 6 BC. Star of Bethlehem
