Actress Aimee European

The real name of Actress Aimee is Francoise Sorya Dreyfus. She was born on April 27, 1932 to Genevieve Sorya and Henri Dreyfus. Both her father and mother were established actors in French film industry. So it was no wonder when she joined the film industry at the tender age of 14!

She got her first break very accidentally. As actress Aimee was walking with her mother in the famous Rue Colisee in Paris, she was spotted by Henri Calef, the famous director. He just stopped her and asked if she liked to act in a film. The result was La Maison sous la mer in which he characters name was Anouk which she adopted in real life.

The next movie for which actress Aimee earned respect was Les Amants de Montparnasee. In this movie she played the role of the tragic artist Jeanne Hebuterne. But the movie which brought her international fame was La Dolce Vita released in 1960. Directed by Federico Fellini, the film is a masterpiece and signaled a spilt between the directors earlier neo-realistic films and later art films.

In this masterpiece, actress Aimee co-starred with Marcello Mastroianni as Maddalena a beautiful wealthy jaded friend/lover of the protagonist. The film was hailed as the most widely seen movie of the 1960s and got four Academy Awards nomination. Anouks performance got her rave reviews from all quarters.

But the movie that got her Golden Globe Award for Best Actress was 1967 classic A Man and a Woman. In this movie actress Aimee played the role of a recent widow Anne with great aplomb. She portrayed the guilt of the character for falling in love with a widower Jean-Luis (played by Jean-Luis Trintignant) while still attached to the memory of her recent deceased husband.

Actress Aimee also got nomination for this role in Academy Awards but failed to get it. The other awards that this critically acclaimed actress have received till date include BAFTA Award (for the same movie as Best Foreign Actress), Cannes Film Festival award for Best Actress for the movie Salto nel vuoto. She also won Fotogramas de Plata, Munich Film Festival award and a lifetime award from Palm Beach International Film Festival.

There are many roles that actress Aimee regretted for not taking. Chief among them is the role of investigative insurance agent Vicki Anderson in the first Thomas Crown Affair. The role later went to Faye Dunaway who co-starred the movie with Steve McQueen. She was also considered for the role of Baroness in the film version of Sound of Music which later went to Eleanor Parker.

On the personal side, actress Aimee has been married four times and all the marriages ended in divorce. She has a daughter form her marriage with Nikos Papatakis. In a survey by Empire magazine, she was chosen as one of the 100 Sexiest Stars in film history. She was ranked at #56. Name
