Max Taut German Architect


Max Taut was born on 15th May, 1884 in Konisberg which is now called Kaliningrad, Kaliningrad Oblast in the Northwestern federal District of Russia and met the end of his life on 26th February, 1967 in Berlin, Germany. He was an architect of German origin. He was the eldest brother of Bruno Julius Florian Taut. In the year 1920, he laid the foundation of the office buildings that are meant for the Trade Unions.

Max Taut actively participated in the Glass Chain, The Novembergruppe as well as the Zehnerring, which is an avant garde architectural think-tank. His major contributions to the field of architecture are Bookprinters Building, which is located in Berlin, DudenstraBe and was built during 1924-26. The other one was the Department store of consumer cooperatives in Oranienplatz constructed in 1929-1932.

Max Taut is an expert in creating framed buildings that highlights the building getting inspired by the new democratic openness of building. At the end of the Second World War a fresh school located at the University of the Arts was made in Berlin which would impart architectural skills to students.

Max Taut entered into a partnership agreement with his brother Bruno Taut and Franz Hoffman during 1918-31 and continued it till the year 1950. He got his training from the construction industry school located in King Mountain.

The architectural creation that Max Taut did during the post-war period were Reutersiedlung as made during 1948-1952 in Bonn and Ludwig George High School located in Darmstadt during 1951-1955.

The other buildings Max Taut constructed includes the Janusz- Korczak-Gymnasium, Ehem, Verwaltungssgebaude des Allgemeinen Deutschen Gewerkschaftsbundes in Berlin-Mitte, Schulgruppe Noldnerplatz in Berlin-Lichtenberg as well as Ludwig-Georgs-Gymnasium in Darmstadt.

Max Taut was also behind the construction of the Administration building meant for the general German Confederation of Trade Unions in Berlin-Mitte as well as two houses in the Weissenhof settlement in Stuttgart.

The educational institutions Max Taut worked upon were Janusz Korczak High School, Knabenschule in Finsterwalde, Alexander of Humboldt high school in Berlin Kopenick, Schools group of Noldnerplatz in Berlin Lichtenberg and Ludwig George High School in Darmstadt.

His writings included Max Taut: Bauten und Pläne.(Buildings and Plans) Berlin 1927, Alfred Kuhn: Max Taut - Bauten. (Buildings) Berlin 1932, Max Taut: Berlin im Aufbau. (Berlin in Structure?) Berlin 1946. His burial was carried out in Choriner monastery cemetery. Max_Taut
