The Apparel Proclaims The Man Lines Hamlet

In Act I Scene iii of Hamlet we find Polenius advising his son Laertes when he left for France . From this, the Shakespearean saying the apparel proclaims the man has been extracted and immortalized as it has stood the test of time.

The apparel proclaims the man, these lines of Shakespeare clearly brings out the idea that clothing and dressing style of a person makes a strong statement about his/her personality. We form our first impressions of a person depending on how we judge his style of clothing and dressing.

Today the apparel proclaims the man more than any time in the history of the world. We immediately form opinions, impressions and prejudices by just looking at a person. Even our abilities and nature are deduced by what we look like and what we wear. This may not seem very reasonable, since all judgments should be based on reason.

As the apparel proclaims the man, your clothes will convey information about your taste and sense of fashion. If you wear clothes that are just trendy, you will convey an impression that you believe in keeping up with present trends in all spheres of your life. Similarly, carrying what you wear is more important than what you actually wear. If you fail to do so, you may be considered clumsy, inefficient not up to the mark.

The apparel proclaims the man and this is the reason many people including big celebrities spend huge amounts of money on conveying the right image. But here it can also be argued that first impression should not always be the last impression.Noubikko
