Matthew Garber Starred As Michael Banks In Mary Poppins

Matthew Garber was born on the 25th March, 1956 in Stepney, London and lived till 13th June, 1977. He was an actor of English origin, who came in to the limelight after starring as Michael Banks in Mary Poppins by Walt Disney. His both parents worked on the stage. He initiated his education from the St Paul's primary School in Winchmore Hill and later form Highgate School.

Matthew Garber worked with the Disney's for three films and later was nowhere to be found. His life came to an end at a very early age of 21. He started with his career at the age of seven by acting in The Three Lives of Thomasina by the Disney in the year 1964.

In that very year, Matthew Garber accompanied with Thomasina co-star Karen Dotrice was selected for the role of the kids of George Banks(David Tomlinson) namely Michael and Jane. Banks was lucky enough to recover lot more than what he invested by keeping the nanny namely Mary Poppins on job.

In London while on the film sets of Mary Poppins, Matthew Garber was the person, who had his birth place there. The only other person being Elsa Lanchester that was born in Lewisham. The animated movie made by Disney inspired by the book series namely Mary Poppins by P.L.Travers was able to secure five Academy Awards and changed the fate of all the actors, who came into the limelight all round the world.

Matthew Garber along with Dotrice was seen again in The Gnome-Mobile in the year 1967, where they performed the role of the grandchildren of a very wealthy lumber mogul. They got stumbled in a gnome and were directed to save the lives of the gnomes, who were nearing the end of their life.

Matthew Garber met death at the Royal Free Hospital which is located in Hampstead, London. He was suffering from haemorrhagic necrotising pancreatitis. According to his younger brother namely Fergus Garber in an interview that took place on the 24th October, 2004 on the Mail On Sunday stated that he got hepatitis as a result of eating bad meat while his visit to India in the year 1976.

The disease had already taken a toll on his pancreas, when he was accompanied back to England by his father. Fergus also made it very clear that Matthew Garber was not a drug addict and later he was cremated.
