The Midlands Wrestling is an annual event. The Annual Midlands Wrestling Tournament will be celebrating its 45th anniversary in the year 2007. John Stallworth or Johnny Lee Stallworth, was an All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference receiver for Alabama A&M in 1972 and 1973. He was a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and played football in college at Alabama A&M, by becoming the Pittsburgh Steelers fourth-round draft pick in 1974. From 1974 through 1987 he played for the Pittsburgh Steelers for 14 seasons.
