Texas A & M University is a university that hosts several programs. One of their most well known courses, however, is Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. There also we find the Stevenson Companion Animal Life Care Center. This special home is unique at Texas A&M and not only is that it one of its kind in the country.

Stevenson Companion Animal Life Care Center was inaugurated in March of 1993 as a part of the plan of Dr. Ned Ellet. He is a retired staff of the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. His dream was to create a solution for the pet owner who in their old age was often troubled by the question about who will care for their pets when they no longer can.

Stevenson Companion Animal Life Care Center is basically a refuge for pets after their owners had died. This is in fact a place where the pet would receive quality care and lots of affection. Mrs. Madilin Stevenson and the Luce Foundation immensely supported this idea. They believed completely in Ellets inspirational dream and as a result provided the funds to make the center a reality.

Stevenson Companion Animal Life Care Center at the moment has 320 pets enrolled located in 18 states and they are sent to enrolled at the center, the owner must make a donation to the CVM. This money is usually used to buy the supplies the pet needs for the remainder of its life and when the pet dies, the rest of the endowment go to the university.

Stevenson Companion Animal Life Care Center sends its representative from the Stevenson Center to collect the pet when the owner dies and this then is looked well for. After the pet is got to the center it is first taken to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital. It will then have a full checkup and receive all needed shots. After it has been examined, it will be integrated into the Stevenson Center.

Stevenson Companion Animal Life Care Center creates a homelike ambience for pets while giving excellent care. Covering an acre of 10 acres this place has bird sanctuary, two large rooms reserved only for cats, a stable in the back, a beautiful garden, four live-in caregivers among other amenities.
