Delonte West Seattle Supersonics Player

Delonte West was born on the 26th day of July in the year 1983 in Washington DC. His height is 6ft 4in and weighs 180lb (82kg). He is a basketball player by profession and plays for Seattle Supersonics in the NBA league. He did his graduation from Saint Josephs College. He played for the college team, Saint Joseph Hawks. He was the shooting guard of the team by virtue of his height of 1.93m.

Jameer Nelson was Delonte Wests teammate. Their combination made great success. During his junior years West had a remarkable average of 4.7 assists and 18 points per game. He also was successful in shooting 41% from three-point range. The Hawks went undefeated during the regular season with 27-0 due to Wests effort. In the NCAA tournament the Hawks managed to reach the laudable Elite eight rounds.

When Wests junior campaign cane to an end, he decided to leave St Josephs. Boston Celtics selected him for the 2004 NBA draft as the 24th pick. His first season was not a very memorable one as he struggled through with injuries. Delonte West managed to play merely 39 games. His average was also much lower than his St Joseph days; with 1.6 assists and 4.5 points per game.

In his rookie season West made the switch to point guard position. He went on to become the starting point guard under coach Doc Rivers in the beginning of 2005-06 season. In this season Delonte Wests average improved once again when he recorded 4.6 assists and 11.8 points per game. West got selected to represent Celtics in their sophomore team at the NBA all star weekend, Rookie Challenge. He was initially a replacement to his injured team mate Jameer Nelson.

In the 2006-07 seasons Delonte West was moved to the position of shooting guard. But he found it difficult to be at his best in this position and was hence moved back to the point guard spot where he was most comfortable. On 8th November 2006, Delonte West gave a clutch shot against the Charlotte Bobcats with a game-winning buzzer beater. On 3rd March 2007 Delonte scored a three pointer with four minutes left to the game which helped his team to a tie against the New Jersey Nets. The game moved into overtime and the Celtics went on to win this game against the nets.

On 4th March 2007, Delonte West played his career best game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. It was a double overtime and West scored 31 points and 12 free throw shots. These were Wests career best figures. During the 2007 NBA Draft (28th June 2007) West was traded by the Celtics to Seattle Supersonics. Wikipedia
