Matt Roloff Living People Big World


Matthew Roloff or Matt Roloff is a multi-faceted personality who gained huge popularity and fame after performing with his family, in a reality television program Living People, Big World aired on TLC. He wears many hats at the same time. He is an author, farmer, inventor, actor and a businessman. The show features Roloffs every day life. He, his wife Amy and one of their four children Zachary are very short height people.

Matt Roloff, the family head and Amy Roloff, his wife form the Roloff family. Their four children are fraternal twins Jeremy and Zachary Roloff (17 years old), Daughter Molly Roloff (14) and Jacob Roloff (10). Matt was suffering from diastrophic dysplasia, a disorder of cartilage and bone development, right from his birth. It is inherited in an autosomal recessive pattern and affects about 1 in 100,000 births. Affected individuals have short stature with very short arms and legs and joint problems that restrict mobility. Amy and Zach have achondroplasia, a type of autosomal dominant genetic disorder that is a common cause of dwarfism. The other three children are of average size.

Matt Roloffs parents are of average height as his elder sister Ruth. They also appear in the show. His younger brother, Sam too suffers from diastrophic dysplasia and uses crutches to walk. His middle brother Joshua lived 34 years with a severe heart malformation.

Matt Roloff has been a successful software systems designer (programmer). His job led him and his family to shift to Portland in 1990. At that time Amy was still pregnant with twins Jeremy and Zachary. Earlier, Matt had appeared as an Ewok(a fictional species of hunter-gatherers) in the Star Wars television movie Ewoks: The Battle for Endor. This has led to his close contacts with many Hollywood people.

Matt Roloff has worked in a lot of financial projects, to try to make a living from his investment in the farm. On the show Little People, Big World we see him running a business with Direct Access Solutions, a company that provides accessibility products for dwarfs to the hospitality industry. He is the co-founder of this company as well.

Matt Roloff owns a 34-acre farm outside Portland, Oregon. This farm serves as a business venture. It includes a farm, an Old West town, a pirate ship and other attractions, some of which are even open to the public. Matt has also authored a book named Against Tall Odds: Being a David in a Goliath World. in 1999 with the help of ghostwriter.

The second season of the reality show started on October 2006 and it featured many episodes with the Roloffs making trips to Hawaii and Milwaukee. In season three, which started airing in 2007, a trebuchet accident case was shown where Matt's business partner Mike Dietjen and the youngest son, Jacob were injured. The season also featured Zach's leg straightening surgery. Latest episodes show Matt Roloff and his family on a road trip through California to Yosemite, Death Valley, the Grand Canyon and Matt's hometown of San Francisco. Wikipedia
