The Edmond Public Schools are some of the best schools of America for the all-round development of your child. Recently, the schools were listed among the 1200 best schools of America. The schools were founded in 1970. There are three different categories of schools namely the elementary, the middle and high schools. Established about thirty-six years ago, the schools were populated with only four thousand students, but at present the schools proudly cater to the academic and all round enhancements of 19,740 students. The Edmond Public Schools have a very cultured, dynamic and supportive community that is dedicated to the academic and scholastic development of their students. The community provides innumerable opportunities in academics, athletics and extra-curricular activities for the students to develop their potentials to the maximum.
The pre-kindergarten to the fifth grade schools comprise the elementary schools of the Edmond Public Schools. A child must be five years old or more than that, on the 1st of September, for taking admission into kindergarten. The cognitive faculties of the students are exercised by challenging assignments in the core subjects of language arts, mathematics, social studies, science and fine arts. The mode of teaching is computer based. The schools also have a media center.

The Edmond Public Schools also have special instructors for subjects like music, arts, physical education and foreign language studies. The school also caters to the requirements of gifted and talented children by providing them with specialist instructors. The kindergarten school duration is usually half-a-day. Due to availability of space half-day classes are also held for four-year old students.

The sixth to eight grades of the Edmond Public Schools fall under the middle school category. The children belonging to this age group are in a biological transition phase from childhood to adolescence. Hence, the school community provides maximum support to these individuals to overcome what is commonly known as the stage of storm and stress. The students are taught building and maintaining social and professional relationships and in taking control of their lives independently.

The Edmond Public Schools offer the same academic subjects in middle school as in elementary school. But the middle school has a flexible schedule to enable the students to try out their skills in other specialized areas like vocal and instrumental music, physical education, art, home economics, speech and drama, and computer technology. This will enable the students to discover their aptitudes and choose their career in later life.

The ninth to twelfth grades of the Edmond Public Schools fall in the high school category. The high schools have earned the accreditation of the North Central Association of Secondary Schools and The Oklahoma State Department of Education. The high school performance is very much above the mark owing to the vast and high standard curriculum. Edmond
