
Matt Morris or Matthew Morris is a starting pitcher. He is a right handed pitcher in Major League Baseball with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was in the team St. Louis Cardinals (1997, 1998, 2000-2005), San Francisco (2006-2007) and Pittsburgh Pirates (2007-present).
Matt Morris studied at the Valley Central High School. New York. Later he went to the Seton Hall University, New Jersey. St. Louis Cardinals graded him 12th in overall, June 1995 free agent. Matt reached the Major Leagues in 1997, before that he strived hard at the Minor Leagues. He won around 12games and scored at 3.49 ERA.
In 1999 Matt Morris underwent a Tommy John Surgery to cure his injury which he received during his spring training. In 2001 he was the ace of the cardinals he was the All Star Selection and stood 3rd at the NL Cy young voting. He succeeded over 22 games. The year 2002 brought (he won) him 17 games, and it was his Second All Star Stance.
2004 was both bad and good for Matt Morris it got (won) him 15 games and one-years contract. But he even lost 10 games. In 2004/2005 he underwent a surgery and the year was not well enough good for his career. But still he stood 3rd on 12th Dec, 2005. The San Francisco Giants offered him a contract of 3 years that was for $27 million.
His first year with the Giants was not that great. Later on Matt Morris decided to change his number from 35 to 22. He gave his number to Rich Aurilia and he himself took the number 22 which he considered as a tribute to former teammate Mike Matheny. On 31st July, 2007 he was posted to the Pittsburgh Pirates for centerfield prospect Rajai Davis and Stephen Mac Farland- Pitcher.
